Etymology: In reference to the Qilian Mountains, Gansu Province, China.

Holotype: JQ-HX-QW-01

Locality: Hanxia outcrop, 39°50'N, 97°15'E, Laojunmiao Town, Yumen City, Gansu Province, China.

Horizon: Uppemost Zhonggou Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Upper Aptian-Early Albian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Late Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Skull and incomplete skeleton of an adult frog.

Paratype: JQ-HX-QW-02A, B (part and ounterpart): Skull and nearly complete skeleton lacking manus and one lower egg.

Note: Has eggs in its body chamber.
