Genus: Genibatrachus GAO & CHEN, 2018
Etymology: Chinese pinyin, Geni, Geni River, and Greek, batrachos, "frog", meaning Geni River Frog. The generic name refers to the Geni River, a major tributary of the Nenjiang River that flows southward close to the type locality near Taipingqiao village.

Etymology: In reference to the Baoshan township near the type locality, Morin Dawa Daur Autonomous Banner, Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia, China.

Holotype: PKUP V0401

Locality: Pigeon Hill, N48°66'43.48", E123°87'28.85", near Taipingqiao village, approximately 18 km northwest of Baoshan townshipe, Morin Dawa Daur Autonomous Banner, Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia, China.

Horizon: Upper part of Longjiang, Guanghua Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: ?Barremian-Aptian Stage, Gallic Subepoch, Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Fragmentary skull and fragmentary skeleton of an adult.

Referred material:

PKUP V0402-V0409: Part and counterpart of juvenile specimens.

PKUP V0410-V0412: Part and counterpart of adult specimens.
