Genus: Nuominerpeton JIA, & JI, 2016b
Etymology: In reference to the Nuomin River, a tributary of the Nen River running through the Baoshan area east of the fossil locality, Inner Mongolia, China and Greek, herpeton, "a crawling animal."

Species: aquilonaris JIA, & JI, 2016b
Etymology: Latin, aquilonaris, "northern"; referring to the geographic occurrence of the new salamnder well north of the Jehol area, where most of the other Mesozoic slalamanders in China are known.

Holotype: PKUP V0414 (part and counterpart)

Locality: Pigeon Hill Locality, N48°66'43.38", E123°87'28.8", near Taipiangqiao village, Baoshan Township, Morin Dawa Daur Autonomous Banner of Hulubuir City, Inner Mongolia, China.

Horizon: Guanghua Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Barremian-Aptian Stage, Lower Gallic Subepoch, Middle Early Cretaceous.

Material: Articulated cranial and postcranial skeleton missing distal part of right hind limb, and tail.

Topotype:

PKUP V0415-V-422: Fragmentary specimens.
