pang, "fat"; in allusion to the short, broad body, and Greek, herpeton, "crawling
thing."

Etymology: Latin, sine, "Chinese."
Holotype: IVPP 14244
Locality: Wubaiding Village, Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province, China.
Horizon: Late Jurassic/Early Cretaceous.
Material: A nearly comlpete impression of the skull and skeleton.
Note: Has skin traces along the body impression.
