Genus: Paranecturus DEMAR, 2013
Etymology: Greek, para, "near, beside," + Necturus (genus of the Caudate family Proteidae); referring to the close phylogenetic relationship.

Species: garbanii DEMAR, 2013
Etymology: In honor of the late Harley J. Garbani for his enormous efforts in collecting and preserving vertebrate fossils from the study area of northeastern Montana, U.S.A.

Holotype: UWBM 93370

Locality: UWBM C1153 (= UCMP V82022), Garfield County, Montana.

Horizon: Hell Creek Formation.

Material: Incomplete atlas missing neural arch roof, crest, adn spine, anterior portion of odontoid process and poritons of the anterior and posterior cotylar rims.
