Genus: Tyrrellbatrachus GARDNER, 2015
Etymology: Combines Tyrrell, in reference to the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology, and Greek, batrachus, "frog"; a common suffix for anuran genericv names.

Species: brinkmani GARDNER, 2015
Etymology: In honor of Donald Barry Brinkman, one of the founding research scientists at the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology and whose ongoing research program on Upper Cretaceous vertebrate microfossil localities and assemblages in Alberta yielded the first evidence of this new frog.
