Etymology: From Wessex, an ancient British kingdom which incorporated the Isle of Wight, and Greek, erpeton, "creeping animal"; also used in the construction of the name of the type genus Albanerpeton Fox and Naylor, 1982.

Etymology: In honor of Professor Susan E. Evans (University College London, UK) in recognition of her outstanding contributions in the field of microvertebrate palaeontology and to our understanding of Albanerpetontidae.

Locality: Yaverland, south-east coast of the Islaond of Wight, southern England, Southern United Kingdom.

Horizon: Bed 38 (Radley, 1994), occurring about 4 m below the top of the Wessex Formation.
