Etymolgy: In refernece to the Gansu region of China, and Latinized from Greek, rhinus, "nose"; a common epithet for this clade of reptiles.

Etymology: In reference to the locality where the specimen was found, Qingtoushan, Gansu Province, China.

Locality: Qingtousah (Dashankou) locality, near Yuman, Gansu Province, China.

Horizon: Lower Naobaogou Formation.

Biostratigraphy: Dicynodon Assemblage zone (LUCAS, 2005).

Age: Tatarian Age, Lopingian Subepoch, Zechstein Epoch, Late Permian.

Material: Partial left premaxilla, dental plate of right maxilla, partial braincase, right pterygoid adn soem postcranial materials.
