Etymology: Greek, oros, "mountain" and Greek, bates, "walker": referring to
the paleoenviromental source of the holotype from a truly terrestrial, relatively
upland enviroment

Etymology: In honor of W. Pabst for his pioneering work on the ichnolites of
the Tambach Formation, Bromacker locality.
Holotype: MNG 10181
Locality: Bromacker Locality in the middle of the Thuringian Forest near Gotha, Thuringen State, Central Germany.
Horizon: Tambach Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Lowermost unit of the upper Rotliegend Epoch, Early Permian.
Material: A complete articulated skeleton.
Paratypes:
MNG 8980: Nearly complete specimen.
MNG 8760: A complete skull, and greater part of a partially articulated postcranium.
MNG 11133: A fragment with jaw containing 5 complete or partial teeth.
MNG 11134: Partial skull, severely crushed laterally and lacking left mandible.
