Etymology: In honor of Robert R. Reisz and his extensive work on basal amniotes,
and Latinized Greek, rhinus, "nose"; a common suffix for captorhinid taxa.
Species: olsoni SUMIDA, DODICK, METCALF & ALBRIGHT, 2010
Etymology: In honor of Everett C. Olson, collector of one of the specimens
described, and central figure in the development of Late Paleozoic vertebrate
paleontology during the previous century.

Locality: Mitchell Creek Locality, Baylor County, Texas.
Horizon: Waggoner Ranch Formation (formerly Clyde Formation, upper Wichita Group) Upper Wichita Group.
Biostratigraphy: Land-vertebrate faunachron lower to middle C.
Age: Lower Leonardian Stage, Lower Rotliegendes Epoch, Early Permian.
Material: A nearly complete skull, lacking poritons of palate and braincase crushed slightly transversely.
Referred material:
CM 87185: A partial skull, including right lower jaw, caudal portion of right side of skull roof and cheek regions, and partial lower jaw.
