Etymology: In reference to Shiqianfeng (Shihtiefeng) Series at Boade, northwest Shanxi Province, China.

Etymology: In reference to the Huang He (Yellow River), that passes by Liulin County, Shanxi Province, China, and Greek, sauros, “lizard”: Yellow River lizard.

Etymology: In reference for Shanxi (Shansi) province, China, where the fossil was found, and Greek, sauros, “lizard”: Shanxi lizard.

Species: permica YOUNG & YEH, 1963
Etymology: In reference to the Permian.

Holotype: IVPP V2717

Locality: Lixianling, Baode Town, Lishenglen, Paote North West Shansi (Shanxi) Province, China.

Horizon: Lower part of the Shiqianfeng Formation.

Biostratigraphy: Shihtienfenia Assemblage.

Age: Changhsingian Stage, Upper Lopingian subepoch, Uppermost Zechstein Epoch, Late Permian.

Material: 13 presacral, 5 or 6 sacral and 1 or 2 caudal vertebrae, scapulae, both clavicles, left coracoid and precoracoid, both humeri, both ilia, ischia and pubes, a number of fragmentary specimens mostly dorsal spines and other fragments of
vertebrae.

Paratype: IVPP V 2718: 11 more or less well preserved dorsal vertebrae and some fragments.

Etymology: In refrence to Xuecum, Shansi (Shanxi) Province, China, where the specimen was found.

Holotype: IGCAGS V 301

Locality: Xuecun, Lishi, Shansi (Shanxi) Province, China.

Horizon: Shiqianfeng Formation.

Biostratigraphy: Shihtienfenia Assemblage.

Age: Late Permian.

Material: Isolated vertebra, several incomplete ribs, a complete left scapulocoracoid and a femur.

Horizon: Upper Shihtienfeng Formation.

Biostratigraphy: Shihtienfenia Assemblage.

Age: Late Permian.

Material: Right lower jaw, 23 vertebrae, left scapula-coarcoid, claviclar girdle, left fore-limb and the bones of the left fore-foot, some ribs and scutes.
