Genus: Brasinorhynchus SCHULTZ, LANGER & MONTEFELTRO, 2016
Etymology: Portuguese, brasino, used for red horses in south Brazil, and Greek, rhynchos, "beak": in reference to both the color of the fossil and teh gross resemblance of the holotype skull to that of a horse.

Species: mariantensis SCHULTZ, LANGER & MONTEFELTRO, 2016
Etymology: In reference to the Porto Mariante, the nearest town of the type-locality.

Holotype: UFRGS-PV-0168-T

Locality: Mariante 1, along RS-240 road near the town of Porto Mariante, 28 km east of Venancio Aires, 29°41'9.72"S, 51°54'58.01"W, Bom Retiro do Sul municipality, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil.

Horizon: Alemoa Member, Santa Maria Formation.

Biostratigraphy: Dinodontosaurus Assemblage Zone.

Age: Ladinian Stage, Late Mid Triassic Epoch, Middle Triassic.

Material: Complete skull lacking the lower jaws, atlas, axis and third cervical vertebra.
