Genus: Doswellia WEEMS, 1980
Etymology: In reference to the town of Doswell, Taylorsville Basin, Hanover County, Virginia, near which the type skeleton was discovered.

Etymology: In honor of James Kaltenbach who discovered the type specimen.

Locality: Found in a pit dug for foundations at the Doswell Sewer Plant, located 1/4th mile Northwest of the confluence of the North Anna and Little Rivers, near Doswell, 37.8267°N, 77.4336°W, Taylorsville Basin, Hanover County, Virginia.

Horizon: Poor Farm Member, Falling Creek Fromation, Doswell Group (Upper Falling Creek Member, Doswell Formation, Newark Supergoup).

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Carnian Stage, Lower Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.

Material: Axial skeleton from 7th cervical thought 56 caudal, scattered more posterior caudals, associated ribs, pelvis complete except for left ischium, clavicle, interclavicle, dorsal and lateral armor badly scattered except for an articulated patch form the posterior dorsal region.

Referred material:

USNM 214823: Postorbirtal 1/3 of the skull, posterior 1/3 of the jaws, 2nd through 5th cervicals, cervical ribs, nuchal plate, cervical armor plates, and distal end of a (?) tibia.
Note: Probably of the same individual as USNM 244214.

USNM 25840: 2 presacral vertebrae.

Locality: Northeast stream bank of creek on east side of Richmond, Fredericksburb and Potomaac Railway, 1.9 km north of Ashland, Taylorsville Basin, Hanover county, Virginia.

Horizon: Upper Falling Creek Member, Doswell Formation, Newark Supergoup.
