Etymology: Latin, latens, referes to the status of the fossil that has been collected for years but is not recognized as a new taxon.

Holotype: IVVP V15636

Locality: Xinmin, Panzhou County, Guizhou Province, Southern China.

Horizon: Member II, Guanling Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Anisian Stage, Lower Mid Triassic Epoch, Middle Triassic.

Material: Nearly complete skull and several cervical vertebrae.
