Latin, longus, "long, and Latin, collum, "neck." In reference to its elongated cervical vertebrae.

Locality: Hoyada de Ischigualsto, Ischigualasto Provincial Park, San Juan Province, Argentina.
Horizon: Chancha de Bohas Member, Lower third of the Ischigualasto Formation Agua de la PEna Group..
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Late Carnian Stage, Late Triassic Epoch, Late Triassic.
Material: Incomplete partially articulated postcranial skeleton, including an almost complete axis articulated with the third cervical vertebra, third cervical vertebra nearly complete and articualted with its corresponding complete left rib, 1 isolated anterior cervical vertebra, 2 incomplete partially articulated anterior cervical vertebrae, 10 articulated mid to posterior dorsal vertebrae, 1 isolated anterior cervical vertebraa, 2 incomplete partially articulated anterior cervical vertebrae, 10 articulated mid to posterior dorsal vertebrae, 2 sacral vertebrae in articulation with the first 5 caudal vertebrae, an additional caudal centrum fragment attached to the posterior end of the last caudal, almost complete left ilium and 2 unidentified bone fragments.
