Genus: Rutiotomodon SUES & SCHOCH, 2023
Etymology: Greek, rhytis, "wrinkle, fold", Greek, tomo, "to cut" and Greek, odon, "tooth." In reference to the prominent apicobasal ridges (arises) on the labial cusp on the maxillary and dentary teeth and the inferred function of the tooth crowns.

Etymology: Greek, tytthos, "small."

Holotype: SMNS 97028

Locality: Schumann limestone quarry, near Escheanu, Vellberg Municipality, 49°4'33.71"N, 9°54'7.72"E, Baden-Württemberg State, Germany.

Horizon: Erfurt Formation, lower Keuper Subgroup, Keuper Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Longobardian, Ladinian Stage, Late Mid Triassic Epoch, Late Middle Triassic.

Material: A nearly complete right maxilla with teeth.

Referred material:

SMNS 97029: Crushed dnetary fragment, preserving part of teh symphysis and part of teh right tooth-bearing ramus.
