Genus: Tarjadia ARCUCCI & MARSICANO, 1998
Etymology: From Sierra de Tarjados the closest range to Los Chanares outcrops, La Rioja Province, Argentina.

Species: ruthae ARCUCCI & MARSICANO, 1998
Etymology: Named in honor of Mrs. Ruth Romer, Dr. Alfred Romer’s wife, who participated in the Harvard expedition to Los Chanares, and was the first woman to work in this locality.

Holotype: PULR 063

Locality: Big bend of the Rio Gualo, near Agua Escondida, La Rioja Province, Argentina.

Horizon: Lower lithosome of Los Chanares Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Anisian-Ladinian Stage, Mid Triassic Epoch, Middle Triassic.

Material: 6 almost complete dorsal osteoderms and fragments of another three, all of them found in association with fragmentary vertebrae including 6 vertebral centra, several neural arches with robust transverse processes, and neural spines.

Referred material:

Locality: Rio Chanares, 1.5 kilometers to the north of the type locality, La Rioja Province, Argentina.

Horizon: Lower lithosome of Los Chanares Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Anisian-Ladinian Stage, Mid Triassic Epoch, Middle Triassic.

Material:

MCZ 9319: A fragment of skull roof, frontals, parietal and postfrontal, fragment of the occipital region, supraoccipital and exoccipital-opistothic, a fragment that corresponds to the prearticular area of the right hemimandible, and a fragment of a dorsal osteroderm.
