Etymology: Quechua language (spokenby the Quechua peoples of the Andes in South America), tayta, "father" and Kakan language (spoken by the Sherkai or diaguita nation of Northwestern Argentina), lura, "lizard."

Etymology: In honor of O. Alcober, for his sustained contribution to Late Triassic palaeontology.

Holotype: PVSJ 698

Locality: 'North of Cancha de Bochas', Ischigualastro Provincial Park, 30°07'S, 67°54'W, San Juan Province, Argentina.

Horizon: Lower portion of the Cancha de Bochas Member, Ischigualastro Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Carnian Stage, Late Triassic Epoch, Late Trassic.

Material: Fragmentary skull and fragmentary dentary.
