Genus: Wachtlerosaurus PERNER, 2018
Etymology: In honor of Michael Wachtler for his intensive and long-lasting research in the dolomites, and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Species: ladinicus PERNER, 2018
Etymology: In reference to the Ladinian (Middle Triassic) strata where the fossil was found.

Holotype: PRE 01

Locality: Southern Dolomites, Pessina, northern Italy.

Age: Ladinina Stage, Mid Triassic Epoch, Middle Triassic.

Material: Skull and lower jaws, cervical, dorsal and caudal vertebrae, forelimb and hind limbs, pelvis adn most of the tail.
