Etymology: In reference to the Daqing Shan (“Big Green Mountain”), Baotou Municipality, near where the fossil was found in the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region, China, and Greek, odon, “tooth.”

Locality: Muhao Gully, Naobaogou Village, Shiquai District, Baotou City, Nei Mongol, Inner Mongolia, China.

Biostratigraphy: Dicynodon Assemblage zone (LUCAS, 2005).

Age: Tatarian Age, Lopingian Subepoch, Zechstein Epoch, Late Permian.

Material: Skull and lower jaw.
