Genus: Prosictodon ANGIELCZYK & RUBIDGE, 2010
Etymology: Greek, pros, "in addition," Greek, ictus, "weasel" and Greek,
odontos, "tooth": in reference to the fact that the taxon is similar to Diictodon,
but with the additon of 'postcanine' teeth.
Species: dubei ANGIELCZYK & RUBIDGE, 2010
Etymology: In honor of Charlton Dube, head fossil preparator at the Bernard
Price Institute for Paleaeontological Research, for his many contributions
to the study of the vertebrate fauna of the lower Beaufort Group.
Holotype: BP/1/5589
Locality: Wolwekuil section of Kliphokjs 173 Farm, S31°19'12", E23°19'50", Victoria West State, Northern Cape Province, South Africa.
Horizon: Abrahamskraal Formation.
Biostratigraphy: Tapinocephalus zone (Dinocephalian Assemblage-Zone)
Age: Early Tatarian age, Guadelupian Stage, Middle Zeichstein Epoch, Middle Permian.
Material: A mostly complete but damaged skull and mandible.
