Etymology: Latin, edentatus, "to make toothless."

Locality: Locality 15 of Drysdall & Kitching (1963), about 3 1/2 miles west of Site, Upper Luangwa Valley, Eastern Province, Republic of Zambia, East Africa.
Horizon: Ntawere Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: ?Upper Anisian Stage, Lower Mid Triassic Epoch, Lower Middle Triassic.
Material: Premaxilla, right and left maxillae, right and left quadrates, postero-dorsal
corners of both squamosals, right prefrontal, intertemporal bar, consisting
of interparietal and right and left parietals.

in turn runs into the Ruhuhu River, due east of the Litumba Catholic Mission,
Ngaka sub-basin, Songea District, Southern Province, Tanzania, East
Africa.
Horizon: Manda Formation.

Material: Skull lacking most of the squamosals and posterior part of the palate, associated with post-cranial bones.
