Etymology: In reference Zambia, the country in which the specimen was sound and Greek, sauros, “lizard”: Zambia lizard.

Etymology:

Holotype: Livingstone Museum No. LM/NH 9/2

Locality: Locality 15 of Drysdall & Kitching (1963), about 3 1/2 miles west of Sitwe, Upper Luangwa Valley, Eastern Province, Republic of Zambia, East Africa.

Horizon: Ntawere Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Early Triassic.

Material: Interparietal, left parietal and part of the left squamosal.
