Genus: Chungkingosaurus DONG, ZHOU & ZHANG, 1983
Etymology: Was found near Chungqing (Chungking) in 1977, and Greek, sauros, “lizard”: “Chungqing lizard”.
= Chunkingosaurus HAUBOLD, 1990 (sic)
= Chungqingosaurus YANG, & YANG, 1987 (sic)

Species: jiangbeiensis DONG, ZHOU & ZHANG, 1983
Etymology: The specific name is from Jiangbei, the county that yield the fossils.

Holotype: ChM V 206

Locality: Mia-eisni village, Jiangbei County, Chungqing City, Sichuan (Szechwan) Province, China.

Horizon: Upper Shangshaximiao Formation, Chungking Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Oxfordian Stage, Lower Malm Epoch, Early Late Jurassic.

Material: Rostral region of the skull, 10 dorsal vertebrae, a relatively complete pelvic girdle and sacral region, 23 articulated caudal vertebrae, a pair of femora and tibia, a distal humerus, 3 metacarpals, and 5 pieces of plated armor.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Oxfordian Stage, Lower Malm Epoch, Early Late Jurassic.

CV 00208 (C. sp 3): Distal end of tail (10 posterior caudal vertebrae) 5 spines and anterior portion of a 6th.

Etymology:

Locality: Ouling Public Park (Oilin Park), Chungqing City, Sichuan (Szechwan) Province, China.

Horizon: Upper Shangshaximiao Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Oxfordian Stage, Lower Malm Epoch, Early Late Jurassic.

Material: Scapula, ilo-sacral block and anterior ischium.

Etymology:

Holotype: CV 00205 (C. sp 2)

Locality: From a quarry named Hua-ei-pa, Huayibo, Chungqing City, Sichuan (Szechwan) Province, China.

Horizon: Upper Shangshaximiao Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Oxfordian Stage, Lower Malm Epoch, Early Late Jurassic.

Material: Damaged sacral vertebrae, 4 anterior caudal vertebrae, right humerus, femora, tibia and fibula.
