Etymology:
= Hierosaurus coleii MEHL, 1936
= Nodosaurus coleii (MEHL, 1936) COOMBS, 1978

Holotype: FHSM VP-14855 (was MU 650 VP)

Locality: Unnamed tributary of the Smoky Hill River, about 11 miles south and a little east of Hackberry, Sec. 16, T15S, R26W, Gove County, Kansas.

Horizon: 195 feet above base, Low Smoky Hill Member, Niobrara Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Coniacian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Large section of snout, both nasals, parts of both maxillae, spearate section of the left maxilla showing maxillary sinus, possible right frontal-parietal section, right jugal horn, braincase with portions of the cranial roof, teeth, and several unidentifiable fragments, 2 cervical, 3 dorsal, 3 sacral and 25 caudal vertebrae, 2 chevrons, 8 ribs, right scapulocoracoid, right ilium, fragmentary left ilium, humerus, radius, ulna, 2 metacarpals, almost complete right leg and foot, left femur, tibia, fibula, astragalus, calcaneum (?), and armor.

Horizon: Just above Hattin's (1982) Marker Unit 7, Smoky Hill Chalk, Niobrara Chalk.

Biostratigraphy: Clioscaphites vermiformis and C. choteauensis zones.

Age: Middle Santonian Stage, Lower Senonian Subepoch, Lower Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material:

FHSM VP-1385 (old MU 650 VP): Complete right ulna and nearly complete right radius of a juvenile.

Note: Tooth marks of Cretoxyrhina mantelli.
