Etymology: Latin, magnus (-a), “great” + premaxilla; in reference to the enlarged premaxilla relative to other pengornithids.

Holotype: STM29-11

Locality: Jianchang County, Liaoning Province, northeatern China.

Horizon: Jiufotang Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Early Cretaceous.

Material: Skull and skeleton: Not has feather impressions on wings and tail.
