Etymology: The generic name is from the Mandarin, Chongming, referring to a Chinese mythological bird. 

Species: zhengi WANG, WANG, WANG, & ZHOU, 2016
Etymology: In honor of Mr. Xiaoting Zheng for his generous contributon to the establishment of the Shandong Tinyu Museum of Nature.

Holotype: STM 9-9

Locality: Dapingfang, Lioning Province, China.

Horizon: Jiufotang Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aptian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Late Early Cretaceous Epoch, Late EarlyCretaceous.

Material: Fragmentary skelleton, with associated feathers and gastroliths.
