Etymology: Ainu, chupka, "eastern" and Greek, ornis, "bird."

Etymology: In honor of Masatoshi and Yasuji Kera, who discovered the specimen and contributed greatly to the Mikasa City Museum.

Holotype: MCM.A773

Locality: Kumaoi Creek, on branch off Lake Katsurazawa, Mikasa City, Hokkaido Island, Japan.

Horizon: Kashima Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Coniacian to Santonian Stage, Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: A partial skeleton of a single individual including 4 cervical and 2 thoracic vertebrae, the distal ends of the left and right femora, and the middle part of the right fibula.
