Etymology: From Creta, “Cretaceous,” Latin, avis, ‘bird’, and Latin, -culus, “buttocks.”

Species: sarysuensis BAZHANOV, 1969
Etymology: In reference to Sarysu, a district of Jambyl Region in south-eastern Kazakhstan, and the Sarysu River.

Holotype:

Locality: Taldysay locality, Aral Sea Vicinity, Kazakhstan.

Horizon: Bostobe Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Santonian-Campanian Stage? Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch Late Cretaceous.

Material: Feather.
