Locality: From Hornerstown, Upper Freehold Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey.

Horizon: Either upper Navesink Formation, Monmouth Group or basal Hornerstown Formation, Rancocas Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Maastrichtian Stage, uppermost Senonian subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Proximal half of a left humerus.

Referred material:

Graculavus velox? (Olson, & Parris, 1987)

Locality: Collected from the main fossiliferous layer of the Inversand Company marl pit, Sewell, Gloucester County, New Jersey.

Horizon: Hornerstown Formation, Rancocas Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Maastrichtian Stage, uppermost Senonian subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material:

NJSM 11854: Abraded right carpometarpus consisting mainly of the major metacarpal.

Note: There is some debate on whether this formation is Maastrichtian, Late Cretaceous or Danian, Early Paleocene.

Etymology: Latin, augustus, “majestic”: for the large size of the bird, as well as the month of collection.

Holotype: AMNH 25223

Locality: UCMP V-5711, Bushy Tailed Blowout, Quarry area includes the floor of a small blowout approximately 10 yards northwest of the highest point on the ridge forming the northeastern side of the blowouts of loc. V-5003, S 1/2, Sec. 20, T37N, R64W, Lance Creek, Powder River Basin, Niobrara County, Wyoming.

Horizon: Lance Formation.
