Etymology: Latin, impar, “odd”, and Latin, ornis, “bird”: Odd bird, referring to the birdd's toothless condition, and atypical forelimb morphologies.

Etymology: In honor of the Sir David Attenborough for his influential work in presenting natural history to the general pubich adn his far-reaching advocacy of extant wildlife conservation; Attenborough's odd bird.

Holotype: STM11-176

Locality: Near the village of Toudaoyingzi (GPS E 118.57, N 29.56), Jianchang County, Liaoning Province, China.

Horizon: Jiufotang Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aptian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Late Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: Skull, and nearly complete articulated specimen, missing portions of the vertebral column adn most of the gastral basket.
