Genus: Kinganornis WANG, CAU, KUNDRAT, CHIAPPE, JI, WANG, LI & WU, 2020
Etymology: Derived from the Greater Khingan Range in northeastern China, referring to the first fossil brid uncovered from the Greater Khingan Range at the time of publication, and Greek, ornis, “bird.”

Etymology: In reference to Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia.

Holotype: SGM-AVE-2017001

Locality: Pigeon Hill Loality, Morin Dawa Daur Autonomous Banner, Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia.

Horizon: Longjiang Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aptian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Upper Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: A nearly complete specimen.
