Species: hestiae CHIAPPE, NAVALON, MARTINELLI, de SOUZA CARVALHO, SANTUCCI, WU & FIELD, 2024
Etymology: In reference to Hestia, teh Greek goddess of architecture, regared as simultaneously the oldest and youngest of the Twelve Olympains. Navaornis reflects this duality in that it belongs to an archaic lineage, yet its cranial geometry is essentially modern.
Holotype: MPM-200-1
Locality: William's Quarry bonebed, Sitio Paleontologico Jose Martin Suarez, Presidente Prudente, Sao Paulo State, southearstern Brazil.
Horizon: Adamantina Formation, Bauru Group.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Late Santonian to Early Campanian Stage, Senonian Subepoch,Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.
Material: A complete skull articulated with the anteriormost cervical vertebrae, extracted from Block MPM-200 and more likely than not a partially articualted postcranial skeleton.
