Etymology: Latin, para, "near" and Pengornis indicating the close relationship between the new taxon and Pengornis.
Species: eurycaudatus HU, O’CONNOR & ZHOU, 2015
Etymology: Latin, eury, "broad" and Latin, caudatus, "tail"; in reference
to the unique brod and laterally expanded pygostyle of the new taxon.
Holotype: IVPP V 18687
Locality: Lingyuan, Chaoyang County, Liaoning Province, China.
Horizon: Jiufotang Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Barremian Stage, Lower Gallic Subepoch, Lower Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.
Material: Skull, skeleton missing only the distal portion of the sternum and some parts of the left hadn and right foot.
Note: With feather impressions (remiges and rectrices).
