Etymology: Latin, inusitatus, "unusual, new, different, unseen": refering to the unusual cranial articular facet of the caudal cervical vertebra.

Holotype: IVPP V22582

Locality: Dapingfang Town, Chaoyang County, Liaoning Province, northeastrn China.

Horizon: Jiufotang Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Aptian Stage, Upper Early Cretaceous Subepoch, Middle Gallic Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: A disarticulated specimen missing parts of the skull, pygostyle, and pedal digits.
