Etymology: Latin, soror, “sister” + Avisaurus (BRETT-SURMAN & PAUL, 1985), referring to the sister-group relationship inferred for these two taxa.

Species: australis CHIAPPE, 1993
Etymology: Latin, australis, "south": refers to the occurrence of this species in the Southern Hemisphere.

Age: Maastrichtian Stage, Upper Senonian Subepoch, Upper Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: Left tarsometatarsus.

Paratype:

PVL-4048: Left tarsometatarsus, metatarsal I with proximal and distal phalanges of digit I, and 4 intermediate phalanges.
