Etymology : In reference to the national scenic spot, Yandang Mountain, Zhejiang Province, China, where the fossil was collected on the northeast foot and Greek, ornis, “bird”: Yandang Mountain bird.

Species: longicaudus CAI & ZHAO, 1999
Etymology: Latin, longi, "long" and Latin, caudatus, "tail": Longicaudus reflects the main feature of the fossil.

Holotype: ZMNH M1326

Locality: Aoli Village, Shangpan Town, Linhai City, Zhejiang Province, China.

Horizon: Tangshan Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Campanian Stage? Senonian Subepoch, Gulf Epoch, Early Late Cretaceous.

Material: Nearly complete specimen missing the wrists and digits I and II.
