Etymology: Yixian, is derived from the Chinese spelling of the locality and Greek, ornis, “bird.”

Etymology: In honor of the American geologist Amadeus William Grabau, a pioneering geologist in Liaoning, for his contribution to the study of the Jehol Biota.

Age: Barremian Stage, Lower Gallic Subepoch, Lower Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.
