Genus: Arenysaurus PEREDA-SUBERBIOLA, CANUDO, CRUZADO-CAGALLERO, BARCO, LOPEZ-MARTINEZ, OMS, & RUIZ-OMENACA, 2009
Etymology: Aren (Areny de Noguera in Catalonia language), the village of Huesca Province, Spain, located near the area where the fossils were found, and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Species: ardevoli PEREDA-SUBERBIOLA, CANUDO, CRUZADO-CAGALLERO, BARCO, LOPEZ-MARTINEZ, OMS, & RUIZ-OMENACA, 2009
Etymology: In honor of the geologist Lluis Ardevol (Geoplay, Tremp, Lleida), who discovered the Blasi sites.

Holotype: MPZ 2008/1

Locality: Blasi 3, Aren, south-central Pyrenees, Huesca Province, Spain.

Horizon: Aren Sandstone, lower part of the Tremp Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Maastrichtian Stage, Upper Senonian subepoch, Upper Upper Gulf Epoch, Late Cretaceous.

Material: A partial, articulated skull comprising of the skull roof and braincase.
