Etymology: "Bayannur,"Inner Mongolia, the name of the general geographic area where the fossl was retrieved, and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Species: perfectus XU, TAN, GAO, BAO, YIN, GUO, WANG, TAN, ZHANG & XING, 2018
Etymology: Latin, perfectus, "perfect"; in reference to the perfect preservation of the skeleton designated as the holotypic specimen.

Holotype: IMMNH PV00001

Locality: Chulumiao, ~ 7 km north of Chaogewenduer Town, Urad Rea Banner, Bayannur, Inner Mongolia.

Horizon: Middle part of the upper half of the Bayingebi Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Early Aptian Stage, Lower Gallic Subepoch, Middle Early Cretaceous, Early Cretaceous.

Material: A nearly complete skull and nearly complete skeleton.
