Etymology: In reference to Fukui Prefecture, Honshu Island, Japanwhere the genus was found and Greek, sauros, "lizard": Fukui Lizard.

Etymology: In reference to the Tetori Group.

Holotype: FPDM-V-40’1, FPDM-V-40-2

Locality: Kitadani Quarry, Katsuyama City, 36°7’N, 136°33’E, Fukui Prefecture, Honshu Island, Japan.

Horizon: Kitadani Formation, upper part of the Akaiwa Subgroup, Tetori Group.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Barremian Stage, Lower Gallic Subepoch, Lower Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.

Material: A right maxilla and a right jugal respectively.
