Etymology: Chinese, Jin'ta, "Golden Temple" and is
the name of the county where the fossil was discovered, and Greek, sauros,
"lizard."
Species: meniscus YOU & LI, 2009
Etymology: Latin, meniscus, "crescent"; referes to the crescentic paroccipital
processes and occipital condyle of the specimen.
Holotype: FRDC: GJ 06-2-52
Locality: Yujingzi Basin, Jinta County, Jiuquan area, Gansu Province, China.
Horizon: Xinminpu Group.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: ?Albian Stage, Middle Gallic Subepoch, Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.
Material: Articulated posterior portion of the skull, including elements of the skull roof; postorbitals, squamosals, frontals, and fused parietials and an almost complete braincase.
