Etymology: From Revulto Creek, Revuelto is Spanish for “revolution” (Revolt), which is appropriate for an animal from the Late Triassic During which there was a revolution in terrestrial vertebrate evolution.

Etymology: To honor Jonathan F. Callender, Director of NMMNH for his enthusiastic and substantive support of paleontology in New Mexico.
