Genus: Xuanhuaceratops ZHAO, CHENG, XU & MAKOVICKY, 2006
Etymology: In reference to Xuahua, Hebei Province, China,the geographic region that includes the type locality, and Greek, ceratops, "horned face": a commonly used for horned dinosaurs.

Etymology: In reference to Xuahua, Hebei Province, China, the geographic region that includes the type locality, and Greek, sauros, 'lizard'.

Species: niei ZHAO, CHENG, XU & MAKOVICKY, 2006
Etymology: In honor of Nie Rongzhen who kindly provided the authors with the specimens.

Holotype: IVPP 12722

Locality: Hanjiagou, Xuanhua Area, Hebei Province, China.

Horizon: Houcheng Formation.

Biostratigaphy:

Age: Probably Late Jurassic.

Material: Both premaxillae, articulated sections of the left maxilla, jugal and postorbital, left frontal, a piece of the right postorbital, right quadratojugal, both quadrates, parts of both pterygoids, right ectopterygoid, cornoid region of both mandibles, isolated section of left angular, most of the right dentary, isolated teeth, elements from all sections of the vertebral column, left scapulocoracoid, both humeri, patial left ischium, parts of the right hindlimb including femur, sections of tibia and metarasus.

A) Scapulocoracoid; B) Humerus.

Referred material:

IVPP V14527, V14528: Fragmentary skull and postcranial bones and teeth of two different sized individuals surface collected together.
Note: Collected together near the middle of the Houcheng Formation near Yanjiagou/Shisegou in summer of 2003.
