titanis, "titan, giant."

Etymology: In honor of the Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales
(MACN) for the sustained contribution and human resources formed in Vertebrate
Paleontology during the 19th and 20th centuries.
Holotype: MACN PV N51, 53, 34
Locality: Close to the La Amarga Stream, north of China Muerta Hill, Neuquen Province, Patagonia, Argentina.
Horizon: Puesto Antigual Member, La Amarga Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Barremian Stage, Lower Gallic Subepoch, Middle Early Cretaceous Epoch, Early Cretaceous.
Material: 6 fragmentary caudal vertebrae, scapula, femur and an astragalus.
