Etymology: In reference to the country of India where the specimen was found.

Holotype:

Locality: About 1 kilometer south of Bodepalli Village and about 30 km northeast of Bellampally, a coal-mining town, Pranhita-Godavari Valley, Andhra Pradesh State, India.

Horizon: Kota Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Pliensbachian-Toarcian Stage, Upper Lias Epoch, Early Jurassic.

Material: Fragmentary skull and dentaries, teeth, caudal centra, fragmentary scapula, and osteoderms, cervical? caudal osteoderms.
