Genus: Emausaurus HAUBOLD, 1990
Etymology: For Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Universitaet (EAMU) in Grerifswald, the town near where the specimen was found in northern Germany, and Greek, sauros, “lizard”: “EMAU lizard”.

Locality: Dorfes Klein-Lehmahagen near Brimen, 20 km west of Breifswald, Bezirk Rostock, Northern Germany.

Horizon: Posidonian Shale.

Biostratigraphy: Zone 2.

Age: Lower Toarcian Stage, Upper Lias Epoch, Late Early Jurassic.

Material: Nearly complete skull and jaw, caudal vertebrae, neural arches, fragments of ribs, scutes and plates.
