Etymology: In reference to the Saldam Formation, and Greek, sauros, "lizard."

Etymology: In reference to the Tuva Republic, where the specimen was found.

Holotype: TuvIKOPR K-248

Locality: Kalbak-Kyry, N 51°44.176', E 94°17.546, 5 km northeast of Kyzyl city, Tuva Republic, Southern Asian Russia.

Horizon: Upper Saldam Formation.

Biostratigraphy:

Age: Late Jurassic.

Material: A rather complete braincase lacking ventral portion of the orbitosphenoid, most of the basisphenoid, the parasphenoid, and the basioccipital.
