Genus: Atacamatitan KELLNER, BUILAR-ROGERS, VARGAS & SUAEZ, 2011
Etymology: In reference to the Atacama, the desert in Chile where the specimen was
found, and Greek, Titan, which relates to a group of Greek divinities.
Species: chilensis KELLNER, BUILAR-ROGERS, VARGAS & SUAEZ, 2011
Etymology: In allustion to Chile, the country where the specime was found.
Holotype: SGO-PV-961
Locality: From an outcrop near Conchi Viejo Town, Atacama Desert, Antofagasta Region, Chile.
Horizon: Tolar Formation.
Biostratigraphy:
Age: Late Cretaceous.
Material: Right femur, the proximal end of a humerus, 2 dorsal vertebrae, posterior caudal vertebrae, dorsal ribs and a fragmentary element regarded as part of the sternum, besides other incomplete bones.
Referred material:
MN 7232-V: Cast of one caudal vertebrae.
