Etymology: The generic name is formed by Bauru, in allustion to the Bauru Group and Greek, titan, from the giants of Greek Myths.

Etymology: In honor of Ignacio Aureliano Machado Brito (1938-2001), an important Brazilian paleontologist, who advised several students including two authors of this paper (DAC and AWAK).

Material: Last sacral vertebrae articulated with the sequence of 18 caudal vertebrae, belonging to a single individual.
